Golf courses in Rome: among history and nature
Rome is not one of the most popular golf destinations by the practitioners of this sport, but not everyone knows that the Capital of Italy can offer unique excitement thanks to some particularly evocative golf courses in Rome .
If the scenario you are expecting is the breathtaking Torrent Pine, with a course designed by Arnold Palmer, we are sorry to tell you that you are in the wrong place.
If instead you are ready to enjoy the thrill of going on the Tee 1 and aiming your drive in the direction of the Claudius Aqueduct, aqueduct built by the Romans in 38 AD, then we have some suggestions for golf courses in Rome!
Golf courses in Rome? Here are the most suggestive!
Like many other tourist attractions, even the golf courses in Rome will give you the feeling of “turning the corner and being astounded” by finding a unique work of art.
Casale di Tormaggiore is a convenient starting point for your 18 holes. Our Casale, in fact, is a short distance from the simple but pleasant (and cheap!) Golf Club Mare di Roma: a 9-hole course with waterways near the sea, a perfect solution for not giving up on playing a round while the rest of the family is getting ready for the evening or having fun on the beach.
If you want something more “significant”, you can opt for the Country Club Castelgandolfo, a unique course of its kind because it is located in the crater of a volcano: an easy but fun course, at a more than reasonable cost.
Do you want to play surrounded by history? So, a few kilometres from our Casale, on the Appian way, you can place your Tee on hole 1 of the exclusive Circle of the Acquasanta: among the golf courses in Rome, the Circolo dell’Acquasanta is the oldest club in Rome and is a course completely immersed in the green of the Appia Antica. A perfect, easy course with a historical club house.
A smaller course can be found a short distance from the Circolo dell’Acquasanta, the Claudio Archi Golf Club: here you will have the privilege of playing 9 easy holes, close to the Claudius aqueduct, immersed in the Appia Antica regional park. A very familiar, welcoming, affordable club, absolutely not to be missed!
Last but not least in the golf courses in Rome, also a short distance from the Casale di Tormaggiore, you will find the Fioranello Golf Club: 18 holes slightly more difficult but equally stimulating and suggestive.
In 2022 Rome will host the Ryder Cup, the 3rd most popular sporting event in the world: the fact that it won over the candidacy of countries that are more advanced golfers than Italy is a source of pride for the Roman golfing movement.
Probably you will not find 100% ready golf facilities to host this type of tourism, but hospitality is always a guarantee and the scenarios of golf courses in Rome will remain absolutely unforgettable.
